2. Scope of this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the mobile application Gas Tracker available on Google Play. It explains how data is processed and your rights under applicable data protection laws, including the GDPR.
3. Data Processed by the App
Gas Tracker stores user-generated data locally on your device only. We do not operate our own backend servers and do not transmit your meter data to Desk9.design.
The app stores locally:
- Gas meter information (e.g., meter name, meter number, tariff values)
- Meter readings (date, value, optional notes)
- Optional photos of meter readings
- App settings (reminders, theme, language)
4. Purpose of Data Processing
- Recording and managing gas meter readings
- Calculating gas consumption and estimated costs
- Displaying statistics and trends
- Sending local reminders
- Exporting data as CSV
- Displaying advertisements (see section 6)
5. Camera and OCR
If you use the scan feature, the app accesses your camera to capture meter readings. Text recognition is performed using Google ML Kit.
Images and recognized text remain on your device and are not transmitted to our servers.
6. Advertising (Google AdMob)
Gas Tracker uses Google AdMob, a mobile advertising service provided by Google LLC. AdMob may collect and process certain data to provide personalized or non-personalized advertisements.
Data that may be collected by AdMob includes:
- Advertising ID (AAID)
- Device information (model, operating system, screen size)
- IP address (used for general location detection)
- Interaction data (e.g., ad impressions, clicks)
AdMob may use cookies and similar technologies to serve relevant ads. Data processing by Google is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy:
https://policies.google.com/privacy
In the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK, and Switzerland, users may be asked for consent to personalized advertising in accordance with GDPR requirements. Users can also limit ad personalization in their device settings:
- Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads
We do not have direct access to advertising data collected by Google.
7. Internet Access
Internet access is required for:
- Loading advertisements via Google AdMob
- Downloading ML Kit models (first use of OCR)
8. Data Sharing
We do not sell or share your meter data. However, advertising data may be processed by Google as described above.
9. Data Storage and Deletion
Your meter data remains on your device until you:
- delete entries manually,
- use the “Reset Data” function, or
- uninstall the app.
Uninstalling the app removes locally stored data. Advertising-related data is handled by Google according to their policies.
10. Legal Basis (GDPR)
Where applicable, data processing is based on:
- Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR – provision of app functionality
- Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR – user consent for personalized advertising (where required)
- Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interest in financing the app via advertising
11. Your Rights
You may have the right to access, rectify, delete, restrict processing, object, or lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Because most data is stored locally, deletion can be performed directly within the app.
12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy if app features or legal requirements change. The latest version will always be available at the published URL.
