Introduction
AI Content Disclosure helps WordPress publishers make AI-assisted content visible and understandable to readers—without sending data to third-party analytics or loading disclosure assets from a CDN. Configure tools, wording, and layout globally, then fine-tune per block, per post (document sidebar), or via [ai_disclosure] where shortcodes run. Everything stays on your server: options and meta are stored in your database and output is rendered on the page.
Use it to support honest transparency workflows; it does not provide legal advice or promise regulatory compliance.
Key Features
- Site-wide settings — Pick AI tools/providers (including a configurable “Other” label), optional informational usage scope (inspiration / draft / substantial), long & short disclaimer presets, card styling (colors, radius, padding, typography), optional accent bar, and whether to show tool indicators.
- Three ways to show tools — Abbreviation badges, bundled SVG icons, or plain full names (comma-separated text).
- Block Editor — Dynamic AI Disclosure block with toolbar layouts (Card, Compact, Powered by), inspector controls for global vs custom text, per-block tool selection, preset length, usage-extent lead sentence, appearance overrides, and optional machine-readable mode override.
- Document sidebar — Per-post display mode (inherit / custom / hide), custom text & tools, AI relevance for auto-append, and optional layout for automatic suffix disclosures.
- Shortcode —
[ai_disclosure]for placements outside the block editor (with attributes for text, variant, tools, icons, etc.). - Auto-append — Optionally append a disclosure after post content when globally enabled and the post allows it (respects posts that already contain the block or shortcode).
- Optional Beta JSON-LD — Off by default; clearly labeled as experimental, non–Schema.org-canonical.
- Privacy-minded — No bundled telemetry; assets ship with the plugin.
- Internationalization — Translatable UI and strings; bundled German catalogs and POT; WPML config included.
Benefits
- Clear communication — Readers see what was used and how you describe AI’s role, in a consistent, on-brand box.
- Flexible publishing — Same policy site-wide, different tools or wording per article or per block when content was produced with different stacks.
- Editor-friendly — Native Gutenberg integration plus shortcode for classic layouts or hybrid sites.
- Low operational risk — No external disclosure service dependency; sanitized storage and familiar WordPress capabilities for settings and editing.
- Accessible-minded defaults — Settings copy reminds you about contrast and not relying on color alone.
- Honest positioning — Framed as a transparency aid for publishers who want to disclose AI use responsibly, without overstating legal outcomes.
